This policy explains what the Meow: Human to Cat Translator app does with your data. The app is made and published by Dolzhenko Dev. The date of this revision is shown above, and it describes the version of the app you can install today.
The short version: the app has no servers of its own. Your recordings, your photos and your cat's profile stay on your device. What does leave it is limited to what subscriptions and advertising measurement need, and that is set out below.
What the app does not do
There are no user accounts. The app does not ask for your name, your email address or your phone number, and there is nothing to sign up for or log into.
There is no advertising inside the app: no banners, no full-screen ads and no rewarded video. Advertising is only how some people come across the app in the first place, which is what the section on advertising measurement is about.
The microphone
The app asks for microphone access when you record your cat or yourself. The recording is written to the app's own storage on your device and stays there: it is not uploaded, not sent to us and not sent to anyone else.
The app listens only while a recording is running, and each recording stops by itself after a few seconds. It does not listen in the background.
If you refuse microphone access, the rest of the app keeps working; only recording does not.
Photos
If you choose a photo for your cat's profile, the app asks for access to your photo library and receives only the single picture you select. It is kept on your device and is not uploaded anywhere.
You can use one of the drawn avatars instead and never grant that access at all.
What is stored on the device
Everything the app keeps lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad: your cat's profile (name, avatar, age and breed), your saved translations together with the recordings they were made from, the interface language you chose, and the app's own bookkeeping — how much free use is left, when the app was first opened, and whether it has already asked you to rate it.
None of it is sent to us. We have no server that could receive it.
Advertising measurement
Some people install the app after seeing an advert. To know which campaigns are worth paying for, the app reports the fact of an installation and, later, the fact of a subscription to the services named below. These reports say what happened and on what kind of device — they do not carry anything you recorded, photographed or typed.
On one of the first launches iOS asks whether the app may track you. If you allow it, the advertising identifier your device provides is included in those reports; if you refuse, it is not, and nothing else about the app changes. You can change that answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Apple's own attribution token is collected as well. It tells us that an installation came from an advert on the App Store without identifying you.
Third-party services
Three companies are involved: two of them handle advertising measurement and purchases, and the third is Apple.
AppsFlyer measures advertising. It receives an identifier it generates for your installation, the model, operating system, country and language of your device, and the time of events such as installing the app, opening the subscription screen or starting a subscription. The advertising identifier is included only if you allowed tracking. It does not receive your recordings, your photos or your cat's profile. Their policy: AppsFlyer Services Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat processes subscriptions and tells the app whether yours is active. It receives an anonymous identifier that it generates for your installation, the country and language of your device, the App Store transaction data for a purchase, and the AppsFlyer identifier, so that a subscription can be matched to the advert it came from. It does not receive your recordings, your photos or your cat's profile. Their policy: RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Apple processes the payment itself, issues the receipt and manages renewals and refunds. What Apple does with that data is governed by Apple's own policy: Apple Privacy Policy.
Each of these companies is bound to protect your data to a standard no lower than the one described here. The same applies to any contractor working on our behalf: they may act only on our instructions, may not use your data for their own purposes, and are required to follow this policy. No other service is used. If one is ever added, this section and the App Privacy card on the App Store page will be updated before it starts working.
Your control
Saved translations can be deleted inside the app, and the Delete all data button in the app's settings erases everything it keeps on your device at once — your cat's profile, every recording and the app's own bookkeeping. Deleting the app does the same. Either way, nothing can be recovered afterwards.
Consent to tracking can be withdrawn at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. From that moment the advertising identifier stops being passed on.
To ask what is held about your installation, or to have it deleted, write to support@dolzhenkodev.com. There are no accounts, so nothing we hold is tied to you by name, and a request will be answered on that basis.
When we have to disclose
We may disclose data if the law requires it — a court order, a demand from a state authority or a comparable procedure.
We may also disclose it in good faith where that is necessary to protect our rights, the safety of users or of the public, or to investigate fraud.
Security
What the app stores is kept on your device and is protected by the same iOS mechanisms that protect the rest of it — a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and disk encryption.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute protection. What we can say is that the amount of data leaving your device is deliberately small.
Children
The app is not directed at children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, write to support@dolzhenkodev.com and it will be deleted.
Changes and consent
This policy may be updated — because the app changes, or because the rules do. The revision date at the top of the page always shows when it last changed, and the current version is the one published here.
Continuing to use the app after a change means that you accept the updated policy.
